Twitter for Your Personal Brand
I know Twitter is scary. It’s the wild west. Out of social platforms, it’s the worst when it comes to trolling and the chaos of the internet. But thats also what makes it so great.
Twitter is an open world. You have a chance to connect like never before. Millions of people use Twitter across the world. But the key is to create your own world. This includes connecting, valuable content and clear intentions. The difficult aspect is consistency. Let’s talk about it.
Connecting
When you first open that Twitter account, it feels like you’re talking to yourself. No matter what content you put out, its’ hard to get that attention. Thats why connecting is so important. Early on, the more relationships you build, the easier it will be to grow your account.
I think this might be the most difficult stage for growing. Only because its out of your control. You can reach out to bigger accounts, interact with their content and still not see results. But don’t let that deter you. Stay focused on connecting and building relationships, no matter what.
A great intention to have is connecting with one big player in your industry every three days. It sounds like a lot but after a month, you’ll have between ten and thirteen expert relationships. Thats a solid start.
A great way to get people on your side is to support their content and their products. Give feedback and share insight on what they say. Don’t kiss ass but make yourself a part of the conversation. If they have a new product out, go and buy it. I’ve personally bought over 30 products from other entrepreneurs on Twitter. Showing support will get you support in the long run.
Content
What kind of content should you be creating for your brand? Well, there are a few options. But first you have to keep in mind - Twitter isn’t Instagram. It’s a platform for words. You need to have some skills in the copywriting department. Don’t worry, this can be developed over time. You don’t need to become an expert overnight.
Another great style of content is videos. The right video can get you millions of hits on your page and a lot fo free traffic. Understand videos are only two minutes and twenty seconds. Therefore, you need to make things short and concise. Try adding subtitles so people can still consume the content. This might inspire them to visit your page.
You can even post other people’s content. Give them credit obviously. I’ve shared Tik Toks from massive accounts and gotten millions of views, page visits and even subscribers on my podcast. The timing of the content is a major key to success.
Photos won’t do as well on Twitter.
